People seeking municipal office in Chattooga County’s four municipalities have until 4 PM this afternoon to qualify.

In Lyerly, all of the incumbent town council members and Mayor Jim Ferguson have already qualified for their offices.

Trion Mayor Larry Stansell had said earlier this week that he wasn’t sure if he would seek another term as mayor, but former mayor and current town councilman Lanny Thomas has already announced his intentions to run for Mayor of Trion.  Thomas’ decision to run for Mayor will leave his seat open on the council.  A separate qualifying period for the seat will be held in September.

In Summerville, Mayor Harry Harvey has qualified for another term.  There are three council seats that will also be on the ballot.  Those seats include the one vacated by Kristy Dennis and the other two are currently held by David Ford and Dana Mosley.

In Menlo, longtime Mayor Theresa Canada has qualified for another term.  There are also two city council seats that will be on the ballot in November.
