WALKER COUNTY COORDINATOR DAVID ASHBURN SAID THAT WORK WILL BEGIN SOON ON REPAIR OF THE RAIL LINE THROUGH LAFAYETTE.   LITTLE TRAFFIC HAS BEEN ALLOWED ON THE LINE SINCE THE 2009 FLOOD… BUT THE GEORGIA D.O.T. WILL SOON BEGIN REPAIRING THAT DAMAGE AND OPEN THE LINE THROUGH TO LYERLY IN CHATTOOGA COUNTY.   THAT WILL ALSO ALLOW THE TENNESSEE VALLEY RAILROAD TO HAVE IT’S "TOURIST SPECIAL" TRAINS THROUGH TO SUMMERVILLE, ONCE AGAIN.  LAST FALL, THEY ONLY TRAVELED AS FAR SOUTH AS CHICKAMAUGA ON THE RAIL LINE.
