Repair work on the railroad crossing on Highway 27 near the intersection of Highland Avenue will begin this evening and last until Monday evening, according to the Chattooga & Chickamauga Railroad.

The work is expected to get underway at 7 PM this evening and will continue through Monday at 7 PM.  During that time, all lanes of Highway 27 will be closed at the crossing.  That means commuters will have to find an alternate route.  Local residents will be able to take Highland Avenue to Stockade Road (by Oakview Nursing Home)  and continue past Chattooga County Public Works to Farrar Drive and then back to Highway 27 (close to Jack’s Restaurant).

Northbound commercial traffic will be rerouted to Highway 48 to Menlo to the four-way stop and then make a right on Highway 337 and will then be rerouted to Highway 27 in Walker County.
