Conagra Brands, Inc. is recalling approximately 2,581,816 pounds of canned meat and poultry products due to a packaging defect that may lead to contamination without any outward signs. Some of the products were sold in Chattooga County.
The products include Vienna sausages and potted meat. According to the USDA, the products were offered for sale at Circle K on the Lyerly Highway and the Circle K on Commerce Street (Highway 27) in Summerville as well as Dollar Generals in Gore, Summerville, Trion, Lyerly and Menlo and the Dollar Tree in Summerville, and Walmart in Trion.
The products bear several brands, including Armour, Great Value and Kroger.
The affected products bear the establishment number “P4247” on the cans and were shipped to retail locations nationwide. The recall was triggered after FSIS was notified by the establishment of spoiled and/or leaking cans in their warehouse. According to the USDA website, the establishment number indicated the facility at which the food product was processed.
