A record number of COVID-19 cases are being treated at Floyd Medical Center and Redmond Regional Medical Center as of yesterday.

Hometown Headlines reported on Tuesday afternoon that 117 patients are now under care at the two area hospitals, with three others waiting test results.

As of Tuesday afternoon, there were 105 new positive cases being reported with a 24-hour period in the area served by the Northwest Public Health District, which includes Chattooga County and eight other Northwest Georgia Counties.

According to information from the Johns Hopkins University COVID-19 dashboard, eight new COVID-19 cases were reported on Monday in Chattooga County within a 24-hour period; bringing the total to 1,477 cases of COVID-19 since March.  Thirty-nine deaths have been attributed to the coronavirus in Chattooga County.
