Chattooga County Commissioner Jason Winters has announced an extension on the Ag Water Rate sign up in Chattooga County. The commissioner said already around 30 customers had either signed up or re-activated meters with the new Ag Water Rate. Ag customers receive a reduced rate and only pay for the water that they use. The water can be used for any agricultural purpose including irrigation or to water livestock but it cannot be hooked up to a residence. For a limited time agricultural customers can sign up at the reduced rate of $350 for most hookups, instead of the normal $750. Commissioner Winters said that the deadline for sign ups has been moved from April 30, 2013 to May 31, 2013 allowing another month for ag producers to sign up at the reduced rates. If you have questions you can contact the Chattooga County Water District Office for more information.
