With a new speaker and new leadership in place in the Georgia House of Representatives Rep. Barbara Massey-Reece, D-Menlo, was named to the Education, Reapportionment, Science and Technology and State Institutions and Property committees. Reece told AM 1180 yesterday that she was happy to continue to serve on these committees.
Reece also told AM 1180 on Friday that the reapportionment committee has already had preliminary meetings – something that is unusual for the first week of the legilsative session. Reece said that with the new census in place all legislative districts in Georgia would be affective and that it was very important that Georgia get an accurate count during the census. Much of the federal money that flows back to Georgia depends on accurate numbers coming from the census which will be held this year.
