Registration is now open for the 2024 Toys For Tots program in Floyd County, Polk County, and Chattooga counties, which provides toys to children in need. Last year, the program distributed toys to almost 1,500 families, totaling over 13,000 toys for more than 3,500 children. This year, the program coordinator, Linda Hatcher, anticipates serving up to 4,000 children due to increasing demand.

The Greater Rome Toys for Tots program is aimed at children up to 12 years old in the mentioned counties who would otherwise not receive toys. In addition, the program is working with the sheriff’s department to deliver toys to children impacted by Hurricane Helene. Volunteers are always needed to assist with toy distribution, with work taking place on weekdays from 8 a. m. to noon at the Palladium Building at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.

Toys For Tots was taken over by the Exchange Club of Rome after the Marine Reserve Armory base closed. It was recognized as the top Community Service Project at the Exchange Club’s national convention in 2022. The program looks forward to the Freedom Seekers Motorcycle Club’s Toy Run, which is a significant event contributing to the success of Toys for Tots.
