The proposed Healthy Foundations multi-purpose healthcare campus on South Burnt Mill Road near LaFayette, is currently listed FOR SALE in an online offering.

Keller Williams Realty in Chattanooga has the house and 374 acre farm priced at just under 3-million dollars, according to the ad.

The non-profit Healthy Foundations organization in Catoosa County purchased the farm with the intent of providing help with homelessness, finding jobs, medical care, rehabilitation from substance abuse, behavioral health, resources for children and families – including kids phasing out of foster care, and more… all on one campus.

The City of LaFayette was not in favor of the project… and even today, South Burnt Mill Road is lined with residents displaying signs that say “no rehab center”. In a story from our news archives, LaFayette Mayor Andy Arnold said of Healthy Foundations, that “he was not ready to experiment with a residential treatment style that has never been tried in the United States.” The City of LaFayette had a study done to determine the cost of extending sewer lines to the property… and the estimate was over 21-million dollars.

The Healthy Foundations campus was originally proposed in Catoosa County, but citizens protested saying the property was too close to a school. The Walker County property is also about a mile from the Gilbert Elementary School.
