Representative Barbara Massey Reece (D – Menlo) told AM 1180 Chattooga County Radio that when the state legislature meets today for the beginning of their 2010 session the budget will be getting top priority.

Reece told AM 1180:

On Wednesday, we will have a joint session with the Senate.  The Governor will come to the floor of the House to address both legislative bodies and unveil his recommended budgets. The Governor must set the estimated revenue for both budgets (the current Fiscal Year 2010 Amended Budget and the FY 2011 Budget.  The House and Senate will each make changes, but must keep spending within the limits of estimated revenues.  The Georgia Constitution requires a balanced budget.
