The Georgia State Patrol post in Rome released a report about a Rome man who was stopped in Chattooga County on June 30th and was arrested for DUI for drugs. The man was driving with a child inside the vehicle.
According to the report, a state trooper stopped the driver on Highway 27 near Scott Hill Road in the Gore area. The trooper said that he observed the driver merge into the right lane without using his turn signals. After stopping the driver, the trooper noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and a four-year-old female child in a child safety seat in the back seat of the vehicle.
Forty-two-year-old Rodney Lee Dunn admitted to having just smoked marijuana and that he had marijuana in his pants pocket.
During field sobriety tests, Dunn showed several signs of impairment that would be less safe for him to operate a vehicle safely. Dunn was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Dunn was transported to the Chattooga County Jail and charged with DUI, DUI child endangerment, failure to maintain a single lane, and failure to signal lane change.
