Republican leaders in Georgia continue to voice their support for one candidate in the GOP Primary Runoff race and to express their concern about another.  This week, the endorsements for Dr. John Cowan of Rome continue to flood in as many established Republican leaders express their growing concerns with Marjorie Greene.  Greene is a construction company executive who won forty percent of the vote in a crowded field in the Primary Election.

Cowan came in second, earning his place in the runoff.  State Senators Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) and Chuck Hufstetler (R-Rome) who represent Chattooga County in the Georgia State Senate have both endorsed Cowan, along with most high-profile Republicans across the state.  The concerns over Greene came about after videos of Green espousing what some consider to be radical right-wing views surfaced.

State Senator Hufstetler told the Rome News Tribune yesterday, “I’m strongly supporting John Cowan. He’s in the district and I’m very concerned about Marjorie Greene and her interest in QAnon, a group the FBI has said is a potential source of domestic terrorism. The racist remarks she’s made have no place in the Republican Party.”

Greene issued a statement on Friday saying the bad publicity is a result of “the fake media” and attacking Cowan saying “John Cowan is too weak, too timid and too afraid to fight for us. I beat John Cowan 2-1 on June 9th and will beat him again on August 11th.”

Over 100 Republican leaders have endorsed Cowan and this week, some Greene endorsers have pulled their support after the controversial videos surfaced.
