On Wednesday evening of this week, the Trion Fire Department was called to the scene of a woods fire on Saddle Club Road.  The fire was contained, but residents are being reminded again of the need to get a burn permit before conducting outdoor burning.

The process is simple; all you have to do is log onto www.gatrees.org if you live outside the city limits.  If you are inside the city limits, you need to call your local fire department to obtain a burn permit.  You can also call by phone at 1-877-OK2-BURN (652-2876) to request a burn permit from the Georgia Forestry Commission.

Permits are good only for the day they are issued. If you obtain your permit after dark, your permit will be good for the following day.
