According to regulations from Governor Brian Kemp, restaurants can open their dining rooms once again in Georgia starting today – but some Chattooga County restaurants say that they still won’t be offering in-house dining service.

Beth and Todd Kingsolver, owners of Jefferson’s Restaurant in downtown Summerville say that they have decided not to re-open the dining room, but will continue to offer car-hop and call-in service.  They said over the weekend, “After much thought and consideration, we, at Jefferson’s in Summerville, have decided not to open for dine-in services despite restrictions being lifted.
For the safety of our staff and customers, we will continue to operate as only a carry out and curbside restaurant until further recommendation. We are using this downtime to clean and upgrade our facilities. We miss our customers but respect the need to ‘flatten the curve.’ ”

Jim’s Family Restaurant posted on Wednesday, “Jim’s Family Restaurant was the first to close at the beginning of this pandemic to protect our customers and our employees. We are patiently waiting guidelines from our State Government concerning restrictions on our operation. With that said, we will open and serve our wonderful customers when it is safe to do so. Although, the State has given us a date to reopen, if we do not believe it is the right decision for our customers or our employees we will continue to patiently wait for the proper time.”

Darlene Henry with Henry’s Restaurant said that they would be opening this morning at 6 AM – but for drive-thru service only.  Henry’s closed a few weeks ago after having problems getting enough items from their suppliers.
