Majestic Manor in Rock Spring, Georgia was shut down last week by state officials after allegations that residents at the assisted living facility were being drugged and sedated. Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson cooperated with state officials and his department helped to transport some fifteen residents out of the facility. But the allegations are the first time that the facility has come under scrutiny.
Local media outlets, including WZQZ News, have heard from former workers at the facility who have said that while they were working there they saw infractions and claim that the owner of the facility would instruct health care workers to give medications to residents who were not prescribed the drugs.
Sheriff Wilson told a Chattanooga reporter late last week that his office had received tips about improper patient care at the facility and that raised red flags.
The Georgia Department of Community Health ordered the facility closed last week.
The facility’s operating license is issued to Debra A. Donohue of Ooltewah, Tennessee.
