The Optimist Club will be hosting the “Rolling on the Chattooga” kayak race and fun paddle to raise money for its scholarship program.
The race starts on Saturday, August, 17th at 9 AM and the fun paddle begins at 10 AM, both at the Lyerly boat launch on the Chattooga River. Both end at Chattoogaville, where there will be vendors and live music for an afternoon of fun in the sun for everyone!
Kayak or canoes, 2 passenger max. The river difficulty is mild to moderate. The course is approximately 7.5miles long.

Lower Chattooga River Trail begins below Lyerly Dam.The Lower Chattooga River Canoe/Kayak Trail is a water trail that begins at the launch on Lyerly Dam Road, in the Town of Lyerly, Georgia The trail is 7.5 miles and is usually a 6 hour trip to the take out point on Holland-Chattoogaville Road below Lyerly. Beautiful stretch of pristine aquatic grandeur! The float can range from flat-water to minimum Class I in some bends and shoals differentiating between water levels and flow rates.”
Registration Fee: $25 per person. Includes t-shirt and ditty bag while supplies last. Life vests required in boat for each participant.
Minors must wear life vest. No alcohol permitted.
