A Rome boy is expected to recover after receiving serious injuries in a house fire that took the life of his grandmother on Monday morning.
Fire officials in Rome say that the twelve-year-old boy received burns to over 30% of his body and is in a burn unit in Augusta, Georgia.
The fire department is working with police, the GBI and the state fire marshal to determine the cause of the fire. The investigation is hampered because the house was partially caved-in at the time of the fire.
The fire was reported at 2:04 AM on Monday morning on Cave Spring Road in Floyd County.
