A sixty-five-year-old Rome man was arrested by Summerville Police on Monday of this week after he was found to be under the influence of alcohol.  Police charged Stevie Lynn Thompson of a Bert Road, Rome address with DUI for alcohol, driving without proof of insurance, driving without a valid license, open container of alcohol and public intoxication.  According to reports from the Summerville Police Department, Thompson was intoxicated outside Jefferson’s restaurant on Commerce Street in Summerville and was unable to maintain his balance.  The report indicated that Thompson fell in the grass and was causing a disturbance.  Once in his vehicle, he was stopped by police who found open containers of beer inside the vehicle.  Thompson was booked into the Chattooga County Jail.
