Agents with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and officers from the Floyd County Police Department carried computers out of a home on East Drive on Tuesday afternoon and charged a man with two counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.

Freddy Douglas Wright Jr., 51, of 19 East Drive, had images of minor boys engaged in sexual acts on his computers, according to warrants at the Floyd County Jail.

While Wright had the images and videos, police believe he was not producing the pornography, said John Bankhead, GBI spokesman.

The images were shared online between computers, Bankhead said. Law enforcement has technology to recognize such images and detect when they are shared, he said.

The seized computers have been taken to a GBI forensics specialist, who will examine them to see if there are more images. That information will be turned over to the district attorney to determine if more charges will be filed, Bankhead said.

Wright remained in the Floyd County Jail on Tuesday night.

The investigation is part of the ongoing effort by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, housed within the GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit that identifies those involved in the child porn trade.

The Task Force consists of 118 affiliate Georgia law enforcement agencies. The task force has made 650 arrests since it was formed in 2002.
