Mitchell Leon Edwards, 25 of Rome, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after being convicted of rape last month. Court records said that Edwards had sex with a woman who was passed out at a party in 2011. After he is released he will also spend a lifetime on probation.

Edwards was on court on Thursday for his sentencing, plus he pleaded guilty to two other charges; eluding a police officer and sale of meth.

He was sentenced to six years for attempting to elude and 15 years, followed by 15 years’ probation, on the drug charge. Those sentences will run concurrently with the rape charge.

The additional charges came when Edwards sold an undercover informant meth, then ran from police.
