
A man being sought in connection with the murder of a Rome man earlier this month is now in custody.
According to Rome Police, forty-year-old Derricus Whatley was shot and killed near the intersection of Tobert Street and North Avenue around 5:50 PM on July 3rd. When officers arrived on the scene, they rendered aid until emergency personnel arrived, but Whatley was pronounced dead at a Rome hospital a short time later.
Rome Police took out warrants for Stephano Tyrique Green, age 20 as the suspect in the shooting death.
Green turned himself in to Rome Police on Monday of this week. He is charged with felony murder.
