Justin Spivey, 22, of 2304 Maple Road, was arrested Dec. 22 in connection with the Dec. 10 armed robbery of Chastain’s Liquor
Store on North Broad Street and the Nov. 20 armed robbery of Metro PCS on Shorter Avenue.
Police said an anonymous tipster led them to Spivey.
Spivey is a suspect in four other armed robberies that have occurred in Rome and Floyd County in the past two months, said detective Randy Gore of the Rome Police Department.
Other robberies that may be connected to Spivey include one on Nov. 6 at Citgo on Turner McCall Boulevard; one on Nov. 20 at Southern Pride Food Mart on Rockmart Highway; a robbery at Super Latino Foods on South Broad Street on Nov. 17; and the Nov. 19 robbery of Maple Street Pawn Shop.
The description of the robber was similar in each of those incidents, and in three of the four robberies, witnesses said the man used a silver revolver.
Police said Spivey used a silver revolver in the Metro PCS robbery.
Gore said he has talked to the other armed robbery victims about Spivey.
“What we are hearing is ‘I didn’t get a good look at his face,’” the detective said.
Police are continuing to investigate the robberies.
Spivey has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, one count of aggravated assault, two counts of possession of a weapon while in commission of a crime and two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
He remained in the Floyd County Jail on the evening of Dec. 22.
