A 70-year-old Rome woman was killed Tuesday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Shorter Avenue, according to the Rome Police Department.

Police identified the victim as Sandra Lee Fincher, 70, of Rome. The crash occurred shortly before 7 AM Tuesday in the 1900 block of Shorter Avenue and involved Fincher, who was a pedestrian, and a white passenger car.

Fincher was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

The crash caused traffic delays along Shorter Avenue Tuesday morning while investigators worked at the scene.

The Rome Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team is investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. Police had not released additional information about the driver or what led to the collision as of the latest update.
