Rome police are investigating the burning of a sports utility vehicle early Saturday morning at East 15th Street and Cedar Avenue, reports stated.

According to Rome police reports:

A black 1999 Chevrolet Suburban was reported abandoned and then set on fire by a witness who told police she had seen the vehicle at the end of the street, and then saw the door open. Reports stated she then heard a loud pop and saw a person run from the Suburban toward Cedar Avenue.

Police reported when they came upon the scene, they noticed the vehicle had blacked out windows and brown smoke coming from inside, but no visible flames.

Police went to the owner’s house, who said the Suburban was in the front yard as of 11 p.m. Friday night.

Police did not have any suspects at the time of the report, but are continuing their investigation
