A Chattooga County man was arrested on drug charges after a routine traffic stop. Roger Dwayne Hullender, 59, was arrested on April 30, 2025, following a traffic stop on Ridgeway Drive near Browns Road, according to authorities.
A deputy observed Hullender’s black Chevrolet S-10 cross the double yellow lines with the front driver’s side tire at approximately 12:12 PM. After initiating a traffic stop near Cooper Pit Road, Cpl. Wilks noted that Hullender appeared to reach under his seat as he was slowing down. The deputy stated that Hullender was visibly sweating and exhibited exaggerated reflexes. After requesting Hullender to exit the vehicle, the deputy informed him he suspected drug activity. Hullender initially refused consent to search the vehicle. While preparing a traffic ticket for failure to maintain lane, the deputy conducted a field sobriety test.
The Chattooga County K9 unit arrived on the scene, and K9 Kendy alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent search revealed a suspected methamphetamine pipe containing methamphetamine under the seat. Hullender was placed under arrest and transported to the jail.
En route to the Chattooga County Jail, Hullender allegedly requested to hand over a bag containing a crystal-like substance, suspected to be methamphetamine, which he claimed was hidden in his waistband. The deputy stopped the vehicle in front of 696 Tatum Road, where Hullender surrendered the bag.
Hullender now faces charges of Failure to Maintain Lane, Possession of Drug Related Objects Prohibited, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
