Georgia is one of only a handful of states in the Union that requires runoff elections.  If a candidate doesn’t get a 50-plus majority of votes in a Primary or General Election, then a runoff election must be held between the top-two vote getters. 

Today, Chattooga County residents are being asked to return to the polls to decide who will be the next Chattooga County Coroner.  Those wishing to vote in the Coroner’s race will need to have voted in the Republican Primary in May, or did not cast a ballot at all.  Those who voted in the Democratic Primary in May will be voting on two candidates that are running to face off against incumbent U.S. Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene in November.

Also, there is a municipal runoff election today for Summerville residents.  Voters will be determining who will fill out the unexpired term of former Councilman David Ford, who passed away earlier this year.

Polls will be open today from 7 AM until 7 PM and you must vote in your local precinct for the county runoff and at Summerville City Hall for the municipal runoff election.
