Chattooga County Public Works was out with the salt trucks on Friday evening working on the few trouble spots throughout the county.
By and large Chattooga County dodged a bullet on Friday afternoon as areas to our north received freezing rain, ice and snow.
Walker County Sheriff’s Department told AM 1180 on Friday afternoon that areas north of Walmart in LaFayette were in bad condition due to the icy roads. Most secondary roads in northern Walker County were rather slick and some were impassible according to a Walker County Sheriff’s Department employee.
In Chattooga County, Public Works Director Lamar Canada told AM 1180 that the salt trucks had been to Cloudland on the mountain and Hawk Ridge on Trion-Teloga Road. Also county workers had to work on a guardrail in the Giles Road area due to an accident.
Public Works will be monitored icy situations throughout the night and into the morning.
