The Salvation Army red kettles are familiar sights during the Christmas season. This year, the Salvation Army of Rome had red kettles at Trion Wal-Mart and in Summerville at Ingles Supermarket. But the Salvation Army doesn’t just help people at Christmastime, it is a year-round ministry that helps people in need.
The Salvation Army of Rome serves Floyd, Polk and Chattooga Counties.
Earlier this year, the Salvation Army of Rome was on the scene in Summerville when the floods hit over Labor Day Weekend. The local chapter of the Salvation Army helped coordinate efforts and worked with Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief and local churches to make sure area residents had hot meals and water to drink.
Many times throughout the year, the Salvation Army assists area families in need.
The Salvation Army of Rome welcomes monetary contributions that will be used to support its initiatives in 2023, says Captain Paula Blevins. The office is located at 317 East 1st Avenue in Rome, open this week from Wednesday to Friday.
