A Farmersville Road woman reported on February 2 that she ahd her daughter received text messages on their phones that they think were a scam attempt.
According to the Sheriff's Department report, the woman said she and her daughter both received text messages that their bank accounts at Northwest Georgia Credit Union had been deactivated and they needed to call the phone number listed in the text.
The woman said a friend of hers had replied to a similar message a year ago, and the next day all of the money in her checking account was gone. The woman in this recent, nor her daughter responded to the text in this case.
AM1180 reminds you that if there is a problem with your bank accounts, banks will not text you. You will either receive a phone call or a letter from the bank. If there is ever any question, telephone the bank before responding to any information concerning your bank account.
