The Corporal Mary Bullard Memorial Scholarship is designed for those graduates who plan to enter the Law Enforcement career field.

Each scholarship awarded is for $500, which may be used for those graduating seniors who will enter a State or Federal Police Academy or will instead choose to enter into a college or technical school to study the field of law enforcement.

Corporal Mary Bullard was a career law enforcement officer in Chattooga and Floyd County who was a deeply devoted and decorated police officer throughout her career. Mary, better known to those of us in the Law Enforcement profession as "KK", served under several area sheriffs including Sheriff Gary McConnell, Sheriff Ralph Kellett, Sheriff John Everett, and she completed her tour of duty under Mark Schrader in 2014.

KK understood the important role of education and devoted part of her career to becoming a law enforcement instructor with the state of Georgia, Georgia Peace Officers, Standards & Training Council (which is responsible for training of all law enforcement officers/divisions employed in the state of Georgia).  KK spent many hours training fellow officers – and most beloved to her, the children of Chattooga County in the D.A.R.E. program.

The culmination of KK’s career came on February 20th, 2014 when she passed away due to an unexpected illness.  KK’s family chose to begin a scholarship in her honor which would assist our county’s young people in beginning their studies in her chosen profession, which to her was her calling:  law enforcement.
