On Thursday, Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit Judge Don Thompson reaffirmed his decision regarding non-vetted candidates by the Catoosa County Republican Party.  Judge Thompson says Catoosa County Republican Officials will be fined $1,000 per hour – each – for their failure to abide by his ruling earlier this week.

A second hearing was held on Thursday  concerning Party Officials for the Catoosa County GOP and prospective GOP candidates. Failing to place the names of non-vetted candidates on the GOP list of candidates for the upcoming election, Catoosa County GOP Party Officials appeared in Court Thursday to defend their decision not to follow the Court’s Order.
Hearing arguments from both sides—Plaintiff Candidates seeking to qualify and Defendant Catoosa County GOP officials, the Honorable Don Thompson reaffirmed his Tuesday morning order, today putting teeth in his earlier decision. Each Party Official will be fined one thousand dollars per hour for their failure to abide by the Court’s Order.
A compliance hearing is calendared for Friday morning.
