State Senator Chuck Hufstetler (R-Rome) who represents a small portion of Chattooga County in the 53rd Senate District is the second Georgia Republican, and first state legislator, to recognize former Vice-President Joe Biden’s designation as President-Elect.

Last week, State Senator Jeff Mullis (R-Chickamauga) issued a press release citing “actions to undermine this election” but did not offer any specifics about those allegations.  Since then both GOP Senate Candidates David Perdue and Kelly Loeffler have called for Georgia’s Secretary of State, and fellow Republican, to step down.  Secretary of State Raffensberger has resisted those calls and has issued a recount of the votes, but says that he expects no significant changes in the outcome and that President-Elect Biden will likely win Georgia’s electoral votes.

Senator Hufstetler told The New Yorker magazine, “It’s my opinion that Joe Biden has won the election and will be declared the winner. I don’t see anything that will change that.”

Hufstetler has proven himself to be somewhat of a maverick in the Georgia State Senate and has disagreed with his party leadership on issues in the past, including Georgia’s response to Medicaid expansion.
