On Wednesday, State Senator Colton Moore (R-Trenton) sent an email out to supporters claiming that Georgia House Speaker Jon Burns is “trying to arrest” him and block him from representing the residents of the 53rd Senate District that includes Chattooga, Walker, Dade and Catoosa Counties.

Moore’s email included a byline of “Tyrant Alert” – referring to his fellow Republican, House Speaker Burns.  Moore then went on to share a letter he had written outlining the reasons he feels he should be allowed to attend a joint session of the Georgia Assembly that is meeting today.

At issue, is a ban that was placed on him by the Republican-controlled Georgia House of Representatives last year after Senator Moore made derogatory comments on the memory of House Speaker David Ralston on a day when Ralston, who died in 2022, was being honored in both the House and Senate chambers.  Moore’s actions were condemned by Republicans and Democrats alike in the House and Senate.  The House then banned Moore from ever entering the Georgia House of Representatives.

Moore was ordered off of Georgia House of Representatives property which means he will not be allowed to attend any joint-session of the Georgia General Assembly.
