The Chattooga County Sheriffs Office responded to several reports this past week of financial fraud.

Ruby Garner told Deputies that her account with Regions Bank had been compromised. Several non authorized transactions had attempted to go through before the account was flagged. Garner named 2 individuals whose names showed up on the transactions as friends of an ex boyfriend. She stated it is possible that the ex had given out her banking information. Deputies placed a report on file and advised investigators of the report.

A second citizen, Candice Bryan, reported fraudulent activity at her Peach State Credit Union account. After having her card declined, Bryan checked her account and noticed that money had been transferred to another account with the name, Coty Williamson. Bryan had a prior relationship with Williamson where he used her phone to purchase bitcoin. A new girlfriend of Williamson was now accusing Bryan of stealing money from a private checking account. Deputies advised Bryan that a report would be placed on file and turned over to investigators.
