This is Severe Weather Awareness Week and the Town of Lyerly wants you to be ready when severe weather strikes.

Here are a few tips that can help:

•Have a family emergency plan for your home and practice it often.

•Make a severe weather safety kit that includes a weather radio, flashlights, extra food, clothes, blankets, batteries, medicines, first aid kits, and any other necessities.

•Listen to local radio and TV stations for weather updates.

•The Lyerly Tornado Siren will sound once a tornado warning has been issued for our area.

This Saturday beginning a 10:00am we will be observing Severe Weather Awareness Day.  The tornado siren will sound at 12 noon. We will be selling hamburgers and hot dogs at the Lyerly Fire Hall. All proceeds benefit the Lyerly Volunteer Fire Department.
