Jeremy Wade Bruce, 41, has been sentenced to six months confinement, five years probation, and a $259.50 fine for violating his probation as a registered sex offender in Chattooga County. Bruce pleaded guilty to violating sexual offender restrictions during the latest session of Chattooga County Superior Court.

The arrest stems from an incident in October of last year when Bruce was apprehended by the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office for providing false information to a deputy regarding his living arrangements. Bruce had previously requested to reside at 197 South 3rd Street in Summerville. He was explicitly informed by both deputies and his probation officer that this residence was prohibited due to its proximity – within 1,000 feet – of Second Baptist Church located at 95 Church Street. This violated the terms of his probation. After being informed of the restriction, Bruce told a deputy he was homeless and promised to contact the Sheriff’s Office with his sleeping location. He failed to do so and instead falsely claimed to be living with his parents. However, authorities discovered Bruce was, in fact, residing at the forbidden South 3rd Street address.

Bruce then confessed to living at that location at the time of his arrest. Bruce was initially taken to the Chattooga County Jail on charges of violation of probation following the October arrest.
