Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader announced his bid for reelection on Tuesday.  Schrader was first elected sheriff in 2012 when he defeated incumbent Sheriff John Everett in the Democratic Primary. 

Since that time, Sheriff Schrader has switched political parties and ran unopposed in 2020 in the Republican Primary.

Sheriff Schrader said on Tuesday, “I would like to take this time to announce that I will be asking the voters of this county for their vote in the General Primary on May 21, 2024. It has been an honor to serve as your sheriff for the past 11 years. I look forward to seeing you out and about!! I truly appreciate the confidence that you’ve placed in me and my office over the past 11 years”.

Schrader started his career in law enforcement working for former Sheriff Ralph Kellett and other than a brief period working for the Trion Police Department, he has worked for the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office since high school.
