The Chattooga County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting an introductory course on handguns for civilians titled “First Time Gun Owners” on Saturday March 26, 2016 beginning at 9:00 am at the Chattooga County Agriculture Building located off Highway 100 across from the Chattooga County Board of Education.
The class will last until around 3:00pm. Sheriff Schrader said, “We will have a break for lunch around noon (lunch will be on your own) and after lunch will finish up. The class will cover topics on situational awareness, new Georgia Weapons Carry Law, the process of getting a Georgia Weapons Carry License, Different types of handguns, calibers and characteristics of each and methods of carry. We will have a local vendor on hand to let you get hands on the different types of handguns so that you can see what works best for you. The vendor will also cover the steps and paperwork used in the purchase of a handgun.”
“ This is a very basic introductory course intended for those who do not have a handgun and are looking to purchase one or have one and just have questions. We will have firearms instructors on hand as well as those with a great amount of experience with firearms to answer your questions.”
Speakers will include Sheriff Mark Schrader, Sgt. Josh Powell, Department Training Officer, Magistrate Judge Tracy Maddux, Wayne Chapplle, Retired Federal Firearms Instructor, and Blake Jones, Owner of E.Z. Pawn as well as others.
