Earlier this year an Atlanta area couple was murdered after responding to an advertisement on the internet selling site "Craigslist."  The couple thought that they were going to meet someone about a classic car, when really the person only wanted to rob them.

Chattooga County Sheriff Mark Schrader is offering the sheriff's department's parking area as a place for people to meet to buy and sell off of Craigslist.  Sheriff Schrader posted on his Facebook Page:

"In light of all of the tragedies and dangerous incidents involving Craigslist and other electronic media buy/sell/trade sites, I want to offer the Sheriff's Office parking area, out in front of the office, for a place to meet those you may be trading with. Any area out front, including the two thirty minute parking spots, are available for use. We will also run serial numbers to ensure the item hasn't been reported stolen, as long as you (or the other person) have the item there with you. Please beware and very cautious if someone doesn't agree to meet you at the Sheriffs Office. Please don't hesitate to call if you have any questions."
