Sheriff Mark Schrader told AM 1180 this week that he was generally pleased with the condition of the sheriff's department when he took office this week. AM 1180 reported this week that the sheriff is renovating the sheriff's office. Schrader said the changes are being made to help give the office a more professional look and be more accessible for residents when they need to come to the sheriff's department. One change is the entry way into the department. When the renovations are complete, residents will enter the sheriff's department from West Washington Street. The side door near the jail will only be used to bring prisoners into the sheriff's office from the jail. Schrader said that he hopes the changes will make the sheriff's office more accessible and convenient for the public.
