Authorities say that a suspect is in custody in relation to a shooting incident that happened at Hutcheson Medical Center in Ft. Oglethorpe this evening.  Two people were shot and one is dead according to early reports.  One victim was transported to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga as a result of the gunshot wounds.  According to reports, local officials and the GBI are on the scene.

UPDATE: WTVC – Channel 9

NewsChannel 9 has confirmed that one woman is dead following a shooting in the ICU at Hutcheson Medical Center. Another woman was shot and flown to Erlanger Medical Center by Lifeforce.

A She says the Emergency Room is surrounded by police cars, flashing bluelights and at least two ambulances. She said it appeared family members are outside the hospital wondering about loved ones.

We are told no hospital employees were shot. The victims are apparently family members of a patient at the hospital and the shooting was the result of a domestic dispute.

We are told Ft. Oglethorpe police officers have the gunman in custody. There is a car in a parking lot at the police department surrounded by crime scene tape. NewsChannel 9 Photojournalist Ken Earnshaw saw authorities remove a revolver from the car. The suspect is being interviewed by police.

Other officers are going through the hospital, still on lockdown, to insure there are no other gunmen. Sheriff Steve Wilson said the hospital is likely to be on lockdown for three more hours.

Family members concerned about loved ones are asked to go to main Ft. Oglethorpe firehall or Hutcheson Home Healthcare.

Two people are dead following a shooting in the ICU at the Erlanger at Hutcheson hospital in Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga., according to Walker County Sheriff Steve Wilson.

We are told no hospital employees or patients were shot. The two fatalities are a mother and daughter, family members of a patient at the hospital. Sheriff Wilson said the shooter was the daughter’s husband. The victims nor suspect have been identified at this time.

Sheriff Wilson said immediately after the shooting, the shooter drove himself about a mile to the Ft. Oglethorpe police department and turned himself in. Hutcheson Medical Center is actually split by the Catoosa – Walker County line. Sheriff Wilson said the shooting occured in the Walker County portion of the hospital. He said however that Walker County and Catoosa are investigating via a "unified commend."
