A shoplifting complaint was filed by employees at TJ's Package Store on Highway 114.

When law enforcement arrived, they were met at the door of the business by a woman that said (quote) "It's me you're lookin' for…I took the stuff." (end-quote); when the deputy said "What stuff?", she replied "the Gold Schnapps."

At that point the store owner said they found two bottles in the woman's purse, adding that she gave one back and claimed to have brought the other from home. 

After helping the woman look for peppermint schnapps, the employee had walked away for a few minutes, and when she returned she asked the suspect what that "clinking" noise was

in her purse; that's when the suspect gave one of the bottles back.

That's when 9-1-1 was called.

Donna Ann Nelson of a Cartersville address was booked in at the Chattooga County Jail on a charge of theft by shoplifting.
