Walmart seems to be "shoplifting headquarters", this holiday season.  According to a report at the Chattooga County Sheriffs Office a deputy was recently dispatched to the Highway 27 store in response to a subject being detained for stealing.

Upon arrival the deputy was informed that a woman had gone to the pharmacy department to pick up a package of children's Motrin; and according to store personnel the woman then went into another area of the store where she placed the Motrin in her purse.

Afterwards she allegedly went to the men's clothing department, where she concealed both a thermal shirt, and thermal pants, inside her purse.  She then reportedly went to a register, where she conducted a transaction – but did not pay for the items inside the purse.

The woman was confronted by store employees as she attempted to leave, and when asked, accompanied store personnel into the office, where they found those and other stolen items in her possession.

The items recovered had a combined value of $94.15.

According to the report the woman admitted to the deputy that she had taken those items without paying, in an attempt to (quote) "…save some money" (end-quote); adding, she had the money to pay, but didn't know why she failed to do so.

As a result, Emily Madison Hale, age 20 of Summerville was placed under arrest on a charge of Theft by Shoplifting.
