ARCTIC COLD FRONT ON THE WAY FOR SUNDAY TO BRING VERY COLD TEMPERATURES AND A CHANCE FOR SOME SNOW…

A STRONG ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL SWEEP ACROSS GEORGIA DURING THE DAY SUNDAY. WIDESPREAD RAIN WILL PRECEDE THE FRONT OVERNIGHT FOLLOWED BY MUCH COLDER… WINDY CONDITIONS SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY… AND EVEN A CHANCE OF SNOW IN PARTS OF NORTH GEORGIA SUNDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH EARLY MONDAY.

THE COLDEST TEMPERATURES OF THE SEASON WILL SPREAD INTO GEORGIA BEHIND THIS FRONT BY EARLY MONDAY AND REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY. BY MONDAY MORNING… TEMPERATURES IN THE TEENS ARE EXPECTED ACROSS ALL OF NORTH AND MUCH OF CENTRAL GEORGIA. TEMPERATURES WILL REMAIN BELOW FREEZING ALL DAY MONDAY ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA AND STRUGGLE TO RISE ABOVE FREEZING IN CENTRAL GEORGIA. SIMILAR LOW TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TUESDAY MORNING… BEFORE A SIGNIFICANT WARMING TREND BEGINS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AS THE ARCTIC AIR MASS LIFTS NORTHEAST OUT OF THE REGION.

IN ADDITION TO THE COLD TEMPERATURES… STRONG NORTHWEST WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH… WITH GUSTS OF 30 TO 35 MPH… WILL DEVELOP ACROSS THE REGION SUNDAY AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY MONDAY. THESE WINDS WILL DRIVE WIND CHILL READINGS DOWN TO NEAR ZERO ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA BY EARLY MONDAY.

FINALLY… SNOW SHOWERS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON ACROSS NORTH GEORGIA AND CONTINUE SUNDAY NIGHT… ESPECIALLY IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NORTHEAST GEORGIA. LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS… UP TO 1 INCH IN SOME SPOTS… WILL BE POSSIBLE IN THE MOUNTAINS. FURTHER SOUTH AND WEST TOWARD ATLANTA AND ROME… SNOW SHOWERS MAY RESULT IN A LIGHT DUSTING OF SNOW… BUT NO SIGNIFICANT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE EXPECTED AT THIS TIME.

RESIDENTS OF NORTH AND CENTRAL GEORGIA SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR VERY COLD… WINDY CONDITIONS SUNDAY THROUGH EARLY TUESDAY. RESIDENTS OF THE NORTHEAST GEORGIA MOUNTAINS SHOULD BE PREPARED FOR SOME SNOW ACCUMULATION… WHICH MAY RESULT IN HAZARDOUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS LATE SUNDAY THROUGH MONDAY.
