If you travel towards Rome on Highway 27 on school days, you will want to be sure to obey the posted school zone speed limit near Armuchee Elementary School.  The Floyd County Board of Education and Board of Commissioners have approved speed cameras near the school that will be working as school starts back.

This year, students from the former Glenwood Elementary School are being combined with the Armuchee Elementary School, which means there will be even more school traffic in the area.

Floyd County Police say that there will be a thirty-day warning period for people in the area before they begin issuing tickets.  The speed cameras will be active only on school days – not holidays or during the summer.  Speeding fines will be $75 after a warning.  Subsequent fines will be $125.
