A Chattooga County teenager was clocked traveling at a very high rate of speed, which lead to his arrest earlier this week.

According to reports from the Chattooga County Sheriffs Office, while on patrol Deputies clocked a Mercury Marquis traveling down highway 27 at an excessive rate of speed. Radar showed the vehicle to be traveling at speeds of 109 miles per hour. Deputies managed to stop the vehicle and spoke with the driver, Taj Battles who stated that he was just in a hurry to get home and didn’t realize how fast he was going. After requesting that the radar be checked for accuracy, and passing this inspection, Battles was placed under arrest for Speeding and Reckless driving.

Deputies transported him to the Chattooga County Jail without further incident.
