What would a week without a Walmart shoplifting story be? Highly unusual, that's what.
A Chattooga County Sheriff's Office Deputy was dispatched to the Highway 27 store Sunday, after a call came in reporting that two males were being detained for shoplifting. According to store personnel the pair had attempted to steal, of all things, a siphon pump – with one of the two hiding the pump, while the other tried hiding the tubing.
Both men reportedly left the store without paying for the items; they were soon confronted and brought back inside where they turned over the siphon pump – along with a can of Red Bull and a can opener (since when do you have to open Red Bull with a can opener?).
The total value of the items taken, which ended up sending the two men to jail, was $18.41.
Robert Hampton Sanford and Caleb Hunter Higdon, both age 18 and both of Lafayette44, were charged with Theft by Shoplifting and given a ride to jail.
