
The City of Summerville is currently celebrating its annual “Steam into Summerville Railroad Days” at Dowdy Park and the Summerville Depot. The 5-week celebration features a variety of festivities for visitors of all ages, including the Tennessee Valley Railroad’s Summerville Steam Excursion arriving weekly on Saturdays through November 3, as well as on three Sundays: October 13, 20, and November 3. Tickets for these excursions can be purchased on the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum website. The celebration kicks off today with the Summerville Renaissance Festival, featuring pageantry, arts, music, artisans, and food. Guests can enjoy performances from Renaissance performers from Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama, with a passenger train arrival scheduled for 1:00 p. m. and a turning of the Summerville Turntable. Hours for the festival are 11:00 a. m. to 5:00 p. m.
