The North Georgia Electric Membership Corporation was dispatched to southern Walker County Tuesday night after heavy damage from thunderstorms was reported along the Trion Highway. According to Walker County 911: Trees, power poles and power lines were lying across the roadway after the storm traveling east from Alabama swept through the area Tuesday evening. The power company was contacted and sent to the area just south of LaFayette to help with the clean-up. There weren’t any injuries or serious property damage reported and traffic is still moving along the highway, dispatchers said. (From Walker County Messenger)
