Late Saturday Walker County investigators reported finding two bodies in a cave located at Crockford-Pigeon Mountain.  According to early reports the two are students from Florida.

From WTVC in Chattanooga:

David Ashburn, Director of the Walker County Emergency Agency there ten students from The University of Florida jumping from a drop at Ellison Cave, located about 3 miles from Lafayette.

Ashburn says one of the students who jumped from the drop got tangled in his rope. That’s when another student tried to help him, and the two hit a waterfall. Ashburn says the students weren’t dressed for the elements, and died from hypothermia.

Investigators say the students had been to the area on school trips before. Right now, Ashburn says the deaths are believed to be accidental but the investigation is still underway.

The Department of Natrual Wildlife Resources of Georgia, along with the Walker County Cave and Cliff Rescue team are still on the scene.
